Pre employments are available either face to face or via questionnaire.
If a face to face pre employment is required, we will speak to you with regards to what health checks you would like employees to have. The health checks/assessments which are available are listed in the health surveillance section. Bespoke packages are available.
We also offer pre employment questionnaires. Once completed by employees our Practitioners will review information and have a phone consultation where required.
Employees who have had either a face to face pre employment screening or who have completed a pre employment questionnaire, will receive a fitness letter including recommendations for employers where required.
Pre employment checks provide a baseline for health surveillance. The process also supports the management and prevention of ill health and the impact ill health has on an employee’s ability to perform at work.

Free telephone advice and support is available to both employers and employees. Some employers feel comfortable knowing they have access to support with health issues at work which is affecting an individual’s attendance or performance. We will provide advice on how to manage issues where possible to prevent the cost of a referral. We can also help you through the referral process.
Employees often worry about being referred to occupational health. If an individual is worried about the assessment process, they can call to speak to the assessing practitioner who will, talk them through the process which will help them to feel more at ease prior to their appointment.

Driver medicals area available through ABEL OHR. Drivers – must be tested regularly to ensure they are healthy and safe to drive. We have an Occupational Health Physician who can assess and provide D4 medicals to companies who have drivers inclusive of HGV and bus drivers.

Manual Handling refers to the act of moving goods and equipment, whether your staff are delivering an order or carrying a piece of new equipment to the main office. Incorrect manual handling can result in accidents or long-term health issues which is detrimental to your business and to an individual’s overall health.

Healthcare surveillance refers to systems of ongoing health checks which help to identify health risks, manage ill health in the workplace and provide valuable health data. Healthcare surveillance is legally required in several situations – including workplaces which handle hazardous materials.

If employees use display screen equipment (DSE) as part of their normal work and daily, continuously for an hour or more, employers must complete a workstation assessment. Employers should consider the whole workstation, including equipment, furniture, and working conditions, the task/job being completed, any special requirements the employee has such as a disability.

Our team consists of a range of medical experts. We offer referrals to many therapies, depending on the employee’s needs. We address the health concerns of employees with effective where required. Therapies will help to improve morale, productivity, and the overall health of your workforce. We have access to talking therapy/counselling, physiotherapy, mindfulness, meditation and more.

Forklift drivers routinely move heavy goods and large items, so regular health checks to make sure that they are fit to work are essential. According to the HSE, it is good practice to screen drivers before employing them and again at regular intervals and we can help with the issuing and administration of all kinds of medical tests which are documented in the health surveillance section.

Stress management, sleep hygiene, diet, hydration, cholesterol, and BP are all available in our packages of care. With a few co-ordinated activities at work, you can encourage your workforce to make healthier lifestyle choices, contributing to engagement at work, motivation, health, productivity, and reduced absence.

Employers have a duty of care to their staff, which is why many employers take measures like drug screening to ensure employees are safe to continue in their role. By reducing the misuse of drugs and alcohol, you can reduce the possibility of accidents and mistakes caused by impaired or altered judgement.
